Another one of my Kiva loan recipients has finished paying off her loan, which means that my initial loan is now available for me to either withdraw or loan to someone else. So I’ve chosen to loan again to Soheap Va.
Mrs. Sopheap Va, 47, and her husband, Mr. Sary Ma, 42, who live on an Island on the Mekong River about 15 kilometers from Phnom Penh, were married in 1990 and have four children, one son and three daughters. Three of their children are in local school.
Mrs. Sopheap has been a silk weaver for over 20 years, a skill she learned from her parents. She sells her silk products to the middleman in the village, who then resells them in Phnom Penh, Mr. Sary drives a horse cart and is also a Khmer traditional musician. Mrs. Sopheap is requesting a loan of $500 to purchase silk material for weaving.
It gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling to know that I can help someone and make a difference to their life.
